My Role:

My role was to develop, manage, and execute all aspects of my son's engagement party. I directed the party planning, flower arranging, and catering.

Final Product:

In an effort to satisfy the bride's request of earthly tones, I selected floral arrangements and decorations which would accentuate sage and pastel colors. More specifically, I selected organic greens, baby breath, pail color dahlias, and some strong colors in order to provide some contrast.

The tables, chairs, and outdoor patio covers were decorated in different shades of green and sage. Runners were added with napkins packed in lace and wrapped in beige. I was able to overcome the challenge of the location of the party by enlisting the help of family and friends. In addition, I was able to successfully cater to both vegans and non vegans by providing designated tables with the respective types of food.

Challenges:

There were several challenges that had to be overcome to successfully execute an engagement party with over 50 guests. A minor challenge was that the bride requested that the color palette of the party be grounded in earthly tones. A major challenge was that the party would take place in the backyard of an apartment building, which was only accessible by staircase. In addition, the party would require vegan and non vegan catering.
